  • Engine: Powerful 890cc Liquid-Cooled Three-Cylinder DOHC Fuel-Injected Engine The MT-09 SP features the renowned 890cc liquid-cooled CP3 engine. Bore and stroke of 78.0mm × 62.1mm and an 11.5:1 compression ratio provide outstanding torque with thrilling power delivery characteristics. The combination of exceptional combustion efficiency and light weight results in an impressive 48 MPG. Efficient Fuel Delivery System The fuel delivery system features fuel injectors attached to the throttle valve side of the throttle bodies. The injectors spray at the back of the intake valve heads to promote atomization of the fuel and reduce adhesion of fuel particles to the port walls, producing outstanding combustion efficiency. The throttle valve is operated using the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) electronic system which has been widely proven on R-series models as well as the earlier MT-09 models. Lightweight Forged Pistons The lightweight forged pistons allow for smooth, high-revving power. Fracture-Split Connecting Rods The forged connecting rods are made using the fracture-split method—where the big-end ring of the connecting rod is purposefully fractured and then reassembled—to ensure an unparalleled degree of manufacturing accuracy. This creates a pair of perfectly matching halves that produce a much more precise mating surface when the rods are bolted together again around the crankshaft. Offset & Direct-Plated Cylinders The CP3 engine mounts its three cylinder bores forward, towards the exhaust side. This offset reduces the piston to cylinder wall friction, creating more power and improved fuel economy while the direct-plated ceramic-composite cylinder bores provide excellent heat dissipation and reduced friction. New Top-Mounted Acoustic Amplifier Grilles The distinctive roar of the MT-09 SP's crossplane Triple powerplant is one of its most defining characteristics. The 2024 MT-09 SP features a new two-duct intake design with Acoustic Amplifier Grilles located on top of the fuel tank to accentuate high frequency induction sounds, delivering the CP3’s thrilling note directly to the rider for an enhanced sensation of torque and acceleration. Symmetrical Muffler with Dual Outlets The muffler on the MT-09 SP contributes to a lower overall weight and mass centralization, but also produces a low-frequency exhaust note at low speeds. The exhaust tailpipes are left-right symmetrical which directs sound pressure to both sides of the machine, creating an exhaust note that delivers a sense of torque to the rider. Stainless steel header pipes are each given a different curvature and length for an excellent pulse effect. Assist & Slipper Clutch The MT-09 SP features an Assist and Slipper (A&S) clutch for a lighter clutch lever pull and smoother chassis behavior during downshifts. New Third-Generation Quickshifter The 2024 MT-09 SP is equipped with Yamaha's new third-generation Quick Shift System (QSS), now enabling quick, clutchless upshifts and downshifts under both acceleration and deceleration. The system has two settings. Setting 1 enables shifting up while accelerating and shifting down when decelerating. Setting 2 expands functionality across a wider range of situations by permitting downshifts while accelerating and upshifts when decelerating. • Chassis/Suspension: More Engaged Ergonomics Already renowned for its engaging riding experience, ergonomics on the new 2024 MT-09 SP are further enhanced allowing the rider to feel more at one with the machine. In order to achieve this, the handlebar position is now lower and features two customizable settings. Newly designed footrests sit slightly more rearward and are also adjustable. Combined with the lower fuel tank design, the riding position is more dedicated and steering angle is 4 degrees greater for improved low-speed maneuverability. Additionally, the new two-part seat design is slimmer for better freedom of movement and an easier reach to the ground. Lightweight CF Aluminum Frame The MT-09 SP features an advanced, lightweight aluminum frame refined to showcase the MT's signature agility. To ensure both straight-line stability and handling performance, the balance of longitudinal, lateral and torsional rigidity are all carefully considered and finely tuned. The frame is manufactured using Yamaha's groundbreaking controlled fill (CF) die casting technology which contributes to its light weight. Redesigned Aluminum Die Cast Subframe The aluminum die-cast subframe has been redesigned for optimized rigidity and an improved feeling of stability. The new design also allows for a slimmer seat, providing an easier reach to the ground for the rider’s feet. Additionally, there is a new USB Type-C socket located under the seat for powering electronic devices or heated riding gear. Lightweight, High-Rigidity Polished Swingarm Further emphasizing the MT-09 SP's exclusivity, a striking polished aluminum swingarm uses a welded box structure to achieve both high rigidity and light weight, with the swingarm pivot structure connecting to the frame on the inside. The exceptional chassis and thorough engineering of the shapes of parts and components around the seat, provide the MT-09 SP’s slim, agile feel while still delivering outstanding stability. High-Spec SP Suspension The MT-09 SP's KYB® front suspension can be adjusted for spring preload, high- and low-speed compression and rebound damping. The 41mm DLC coated forks provide excellent sliding characteristics and also add to the exterior’s quality appearance. The MT-09 SP's rear suspension features a premium fully adjustable Öhlins® shock absorber with a remote preload adjuster for quick and easy changes. New Brembo Stylema Calipers & Radial Master Cylinder New Brembo Stylema monoblock calipers enhance braking performance with premier technology from the famous Italian firm. The calipers feature a slimmer piston and brake pad area compared to conventional calipers, as well as being lighter, more rigid and offer improved feel. A new Brembo radial master cylinder and large 298mm dual front discs further add to the package for the ultimate in stopping power and finger-tip control. Lightweight SpinForged Aluminum Wheels Manufactured using Yamaha's unique and innovative "spinforge" machining method, these premium lightweight aluminum wheels contribute to the MT-09 SP's quick steering and outstanding agility by reducing unsprung weight. Adjustable Riding Position The riding position was designed to accommodate riders of varying physiques. The handlebars and footpegs can be adjusted to two different positions, allowing riders to set a position that feels comfortable.
  • Electronics: Advanced Six-Axis IMU The MT-09 SP features an advanced six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that matches the base performance of proven IMU in the YZF-R1 Superbike. Data collected from the IMU and wheel speed sensors enable a high-tech suite of rider aids including a four-mode Traction Control System (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS), front wheel Lift Control System (LIF) and a two-mode Brake Control System. Each of these systems can be turned off and Traction Control, Slide Control and Lift Control can have their levels of intervention adjusted to preference. With its best-in-class electronic control technology, the MT-09 SP gives you the ultimate versatility in varying weather and surface conditions. Lean Angle-Sensitive Traction Control System The Traction Control System (TCS) detects the difference in speed between the front and rear wheels and helps to efficiently extract drive force from the rear tire during acceleration. The TCS on the MT-09 uses this data along with lean angle from the IMU to adjust the degree of intervention by the TCS. As the lean angle increases, so does the amount of TCS intervention. Four levels of Traction Control are available (1 = little intervention; 2 = moderate intervention; 3 = strong intervention) and the system can also be turned off. MotoGP®-Developed Slide Control System (SCS) The MT-09 SP features an advanced Slide Control System (SCS) just like the one on the acclaimed YZF-R1. When the IMU detects that a sideward slide is occurring at the rear tire, the SCS responds by adjusting the power output to help the rider focus on riding. Three degrees of intervention can be selected or the system can be turned off. Lift Control System (LIF) The LIFt Control System (LIF) smooths the machine's behavior during starts and acceleration. When the IMU detects front-wheel lift, the system adjusts the engine's output to compensate and assist the rider. On the MT-09 SP, the system settings are focused on providing smooth behavior once the intervention ceases. The LIFt system’s intervention is set up to work together with the other rider aids, and the level of intervention can be chosen manually by the rider or turned off. Brake Control System (BC) with ABS With the Brake Control System (BC), data for the front and rear wheel speed as well as data from the IMU is compiled and calculated in real-time in the hydraulic unit assembly (including the ABS control unit) to independently control and modulate the front and rear brake pressure. The system has two settings, ON enables lean-sensitive brake control, while OFF provides standard front and rear wheel ABS. New Back Slip Regulator (BSR) A new Back Slip Regulator (BSR) reduces rear wheel lock up under engine braking by controlling the level of torque supplied to the wheel. This system shines in low-grip situations or other scenarios when it is difficult for the slipper clutch to perform. Engine Brake Management (EBM) Exclusive to the MT-09 SP, an Engine Brake Management System (EBM) controls the level of engine braking when closing the throttle or when downshifting during track riding. Riders can choose between two settings: Setting 1 for stronger engine braking and Setting 2 for less engine braking. Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) with Specific SP Settings Owners can customize their riding experience via new Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) settings, which allow the selection of engine power characteristics and electronic intervention levels. For quick, easy selections, three integrated riding modes are programmed with factory settings to suit different situations: SPORT, STREET and RAIN. Additionally, riders can create two custom programs with tailored settings to suit exact preferences. SP specification also features four exclusive TRACK modes allowing for more refined, specialized track settings including the option of choosing between two engine brake management settings and the ability to turn rear ABS off. YRC settings can be customized either directly within the dashboard menu or on a smartphone via the Y-Connect app. New Third-Generation Quickshifter The 2024 MT-09 SP is equipped with Yamaha's new third-generation Quick Shift System (QSS), now enabling quick, clutchless upshifts and downshifts under both acceleration and deceleration. This system makes full-on acceleration more exciting and downshifting faster and smoother with less chassis disruption when changing gears. When a sensor on the shift rod detects movement in the gearshift pedal, adjustments are made in the engine output according to ECU calculations to instantly cancel out the drive torque of the engaged gear to promote swifter shifting of gears. Ride-by-Wire YCC-T Throttle System with APSG Along with the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) which electronically governs the throttle valves, the MT-09 SP features an Accelerator Position Sensor Grip (ASPG) ride-by-wire unit that reduces weight while providing excellent throttle feel at the same time. With the APSG, the degree of throttle opening is detected by a sensor and magnet and reflected with signals to the throttle valve motor. For good operational feel, the APSG is comprised of a spring, slider and gear and produces varying degrees of friction (resistance) to recreate a natural throttle feel during use. The construction of the APSG is the same as the one on the YZF-R1/R1M, but has model-specific settings for the degree of friction and throttle opening. New Five-Inch Full-Color TFT Display with Updated Switchgear A new five-inch full-color TFT display provides the rider with the option of five different themes, including the SP-specific TRACK theme, to suit different riding situations or individual preference. Why Buy a Pre-Owned Motorcycle at BMW Motorcycles of Concord?

Choosing between new or pre-owned BMW Motorcycles can be one of the most complex decisions that you have to take. On the one hand, there is a risk of issues evolving after you purchase a pre-owned motorcycle, while on the other hand, new ones may tend to go out of your budget. However, the risks involved in buying a pre-owned motorcycle can be reduced or even eliminated if you buy from our BMW, Triumph, and Ducati Motorcycle dealership near Berkeley, CA. You’ll see why motorcycles like the 2022 Triumph Trident 660, the 2020 Ducati Multistrada 1260, and the 2021 BMW R 18 are amazing.

What Benefits Will You Gain If You Buy a Pre-Owned Motorcycle from BMW Motorcycles of Concord?

If you belong to the list of people who have recently developed an interest in riding a motorcycle and want a premium motorcycle for themselves, or if you’re looking to upgrade your motorcycle, buying a pre-owned motorcycle may serve several benefits to you. Let’s take a look at the benefits you’ll get if you consider purchasing a used motorcycle from BMW Motorcycles of Concord.

No Extra Costs

When buying pre-owned motorcycles, you can save a handsome amount of money as there aren’t any additional costs involved. For example, since all expenses like road tax, RTO charges, and registration charges are already paid by the first owner, you won’t have to pay them again.

The only cost you will have to pay is the motorcycle’s fixed amount that the motorcycle dealership requests.

Better Return on Value

It is a fact that the depreciation rate of a brand-new motorcycle is larger than the depreciation rate of a used motorcycle. On average, a new motorcycle loses approximately 50 percent of its value in the first five years after being purchased. After this time, the rate of depreciation tends to slow down.

Hence, if you get a pre-owned motorcycle near Oakland, CA, or near Richmond, CA, you are highly likely to get it at a much lower price. Even if you decide to sell it after some time and at a different location near Berkeley, CA, or near San Francisco, CA, you won’t lose much money.
